In the midst of an operation in Viña del Mar, as a result of what happened due to the forest fires, the Government spokesperson, Camila Vallejo, addressed various issues that have been present in recent weeks. Among them, the criticism made by parliamentarians of the ruling party against President Boric, following what she pointed out at the state funeral of former president Sebastián Piñera.
Specifically, on the occasion, the president noted “during his government the complaints and recriminations sometimes went beyond what was fair and reasonable.”
Following the above, the disputed Communist Party (PC), Carmen Hertz, accused the statements of denialism. In that sense, she maintained that “what went far beyond what fair and reasonable “was to have been the institutional political person responsible for the serious and widespread violations of fundamental rights during the popular revolt, for the more than 400 eye traumas among them Fabiola Campillai and Gustavo Gatica, for the injuries that incapacitated many, like Mario Acuña.”
Another parliamentarian who also raised her voice about the situation was the Democratic Revolution deputy, Ericka Ñanco, who pointed out that “Camilo Catrillanca was murdered by a bullet fired by a police officer who exercised his power ‘beyond what was fair and reasonable’ in the second government of former president Sebastián Piñera. Respecting grief and having empathy with the pain of others does not mean denying our dead and mutilated people. We do not forget, we do not forgive.”
The minister stated that she was aware of the various comments, and indicated that the President “has never denied or ignored what the four reports indicated regarding the Human Rights violations that occurred in our country within the framework of the social outbreak. Never”
“In fact, he has stated publicly, on different occasions, how important it is to provide information and data, to be able to take care as a State to ensure that these things do not happen again, and that there is also reparation for the victims,” he added.
“What we require, effectively, is the climate of unity, the climate of agreements and understandings. Therefore, sometimes in these contingencies people overinterpret or overreact to words or speeches, but the President has never ignored or denied what happened in Chile regarding the violation of Human Rights and the important work that There is justice in that, within the framework of the social outbreak; At the same time, he calls for us to be able to act with unity, regardless of political differences and cross recriminations, because the country needs it, especially at this time,” he concluded.
