The hub project, which was built for a short time in the western canal belt last year, cost the municipality more than 190,000 euros and also the efforts of its own civil servants. This was told to the members of the district committee.
At a committee meeting at Stopera and at a district committee meeting last year, political parties asked how much the project would cost. District director Micha Mos could not respond at the time, but promised to do so in writing. This has now happened via a letter.
Traffic measures
Traffic studies cost 15,400 euros, conversations with area residents cost 31,900 euros and research and traffic counts cost 42,900 euros. The “implementation of traffic measures”, probably the drilling of post holes, the posts themselves and the installation of the posts, is by far the most expensive. The amount in question was 104,100 euros. Together they amount to 194,300 euros.
Communication on the plan was “largely carried out as an external assignment”. It was an amount of approximately 35,000 euros, divided into the above-mentioned items “neighbourhood consultation”, “research” and “implementation of traffic measures”.
Public employees
The Polo Plan was part of the “area-oriented approach to the western canal belt” and the “city center approach”. The municipality employed an average of 1.2 full-time jobs. The salary of these public employees is not included in the cost overview.
The post plan consisted of ten fences with various posts that could only be removed by emergency services with keys. After a week and a half, the project was stopped due to concerns from the health workers themselves. The district is still seriously considering restarting the plan; Mos said he is considering the use of retractable poles and surveillance cameras.
