Former Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Din Syamsuddin strongly condemned the terror act which killed more than 100 people at a concert in Moscow, Russia, Friday (22/3/2024). Photo: SINDOnews Doc
This act of terror was a barbaric act that was not carried out by a person who was devout and humane. Therefore, this act of terror was not related to any religion.
“If there is a group that claims responsibility and calls itself from the Islamic States, I consider that claim to be disinformation or misinformation,” said Din Syamsuddin, Sunday (24/3/2024).
According to him, it is difficult for members of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group to understand that there are Islamic groups that threaten Russia. The Russian Federation’s relations with the Islamic world are very good and President Putin is very sympathetic to Islam and Muslims.
In fact, the Russian Federation is an observer of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and has an Embassy for the OIC in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
“Relations between Russia and the Islamic world are cordial and Islam is developing rapidly in Russia. Likewise, relations between Muslims and Russian Orthodox Christians are very good,” he said.
Din Syamsuddin also attended a meeting between a number of figures from the Islamic world and the Patriach (High Leader) of the Russian Orthodox Church in Kazan in a friendly atmosphere.
“So, if there is a group that claims to be Islamic as the perpetrator of acts of terror as reported by foreign mass media, it really doesn’t make sense. If it’s ISIS, hasn’t that group already disappeared and isn’t that group said to be supported by the United States, as it appeared in the previous US Presidential Candidate debate? ,” said the Professor of Global Islamic Politics, FISIP, UIN Jakarta.
