The painter and fashion designer José Luis González Fuentes dies

AREQUIPA, Peru – The Caricatos Artistic Representations Agency reported this Friday in Havana on the death of the painter and costume designer José Luis González Fuentes at the age of 73

“It is with great regret that we report the sad news of the death of a fashion legend, a visionary whose talent left an indelible mark not only on the industry, but also on all those who had the pleasure of knowing him,” indicates the note published by the institution on Facebook.

According to the text, with his limitless creativity and his passion for fashion, González Fuentes (April 27, 1950) transformed the way of dressing in Cuba and in which art and body expression are understood.

“Each creation of his was a masterpiece, a testament to his genius and his dedication to beauty and innovation,” the statement highlighted.

Connoisseurs of his work highlight that his creation emanates from the vital force of colors and Caribbean sensuality, which became a reference in Cuban fashion.

A graduate of the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts, in Havana, and creator of the Modarte project, he formed part of the catalog of Caricatos, a promoter of artistic talent on the Island.

“In my case I use hand-painted fabrics mixed by me with other prints, so I enjoy designing each piece, since I have creative freedom in terms of textures and color palette,” González told CubaPLUS Latinos.

Also dedicated to the plastic arts, especially his series of sunflowers, which are a constant in his work, the artist always declared himself a lover of travel, but unable to live outside the Island. “My roots are here,” he reiterated. .

González Fuentes accumulated more than a quarter of a century as a worker in the Light Industry, from which he participated in numerous fashion events.
