The Ombudsman met with Aghshin and Huseyn, who were released from captivity – 2024-03-07 08:03:09

The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva met with Huseyn Akhundov and Agshin Babirov, soldiers of the Azerbaijan Army who were captured and arrested by Armenia in April 2023 in the Shahbuz region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic along the border with Armenia, and who were recently released from captivity.

It was noted that during the meeting, the Ombudsman congratulated H. Akhundov and A. Babirov on the occasion of their release from Armenian captivity thanks to the continuous efforts and perseverance of the country’s President, Commander-in-Chief Muzaffar Ilham Aliyev.

The Commissioner was interested in the health and current conditions of our military personnel, as well as their concerns. They reported on the inhumane treatment they were subjected to during their detention in Armenia

The ombudsman, in turn, said that the issues mentioned by our military personnel will be raised before relevant international organizations, and necessary steps will be taken to ensure their rights.
