The number of victims of the 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Taiwan has reached 4. Search and rescue operations are still ongoing to get people out from under the rubble. This is reported by the BBC.
According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter was located 18 km south of Hualien, Taiwan. Large landslides occurred in the mountainous Hualyan region.

Many were trapped in the tunnels. Bridges in the mountains collapsed due to landslides.
The director of the seismological center of the Taipei Central Meteorological Administration told AFP that the authorities do not rule out that “in the next three days there may be earthquakes with a magnitude of 6.5-7, which will be relatively close to the land.”
The earthquake was followed by almost 60 aftershocks.
The last time such a powerful earthquake occurred in Taiwan was in 1999. About 2,400 people were killed and 50,000 buildings were destroyed or damaged as a result of the 7.6-magnitude earthquake.
