The strongest increase (+39 percent) is among previously non-active people. This concerns, for example, living earners, people with sickness benefits or Ukrainian refugees. They do not receive unemployment benefits but are registered with the VDAB. The Flemish government wants to get that group up and running. They numbered 93,476 at the end of January.
The number of job seekers receiving benefits or applying for benefits remained virtually constant, says VDAB. This concerns 110,199 people.
The job seeker rate, the ratio of the number of job seekers without work to the Flemish labor force, is now 6.7 percent. In January 2023 it was 6 percent.
