The number of Agrobanco clients increased eight times

Today, the banking institution has around 40,000 clients

During the last three years, the Agricultural Bank (Agrobanco) increased its customer base eight times, according to statements by the general manager of the state financial institution, Enrique Orezzoli. The general manager specified that in the year 2020the financial institution had approximately 5,000 customersand today, that figure has increased to almost 40,000 customers.

“The main strategy to reach more customers was to We had as allies the farmers themselves organized in associations, cooperatives, irrigation boards,” he indicated.

The Agrobanco spokesperson pointed out that although there are more than two million small farmers throughout the country, the entity only serves less than 4% from them. Likewise, he mentioned that the microfinance system covers less than 10% of these farmers. “Thus, Let’s imagine everything we can achieve in the development of food security for our country,” he commented.

Within the framework of International Microfinance Seminar (SIM) Ica 2024the executive director of Agrobanco indicated that approximately 30% of the clients that the institution acquires each year access credit for the first time.

“That is a very important achievement for us. Agrobanco’s role is fundamental, considering that over the last three years we have developed more than 300 product sheets”, he stated.

The executive explained that the credit analysis is based on the product sheet, which evaluates aspects such as the cost of production, the quantity produced and the profit margin farmer for his crops.
