the Nuevitas thermoelectric plant joins the maintenance Cubanet

MÉRIDA, Mexico -. Unit 6 of the Nuevitas thermoelectric plant went under maintenance in the last few hours and will be under maintenance at least until the end of April.

“New 6 in planned maintenance. We work in 24-hour shifts, 7 days a week to speed up intervention. The projection is to restore 100 MW GENERATION in that machine before the end of April. Brigades from Thermoelectric and other power plants participate,” official journalist Bernardo Espinosa said on Facebook.

This Saturday, the Cuban Electrical Union predicted an impact on the schedule of the average of 700 MW.

“Unit 2 of the CTE Felton is out of service due to a breakdown. Units 5 (in the startup process) and 8 of the Mariel CTE, the Guiteras CTE unit and unit 6 of the Nuevitas CTE are under maintenance,” reads the UNE daily report.

In addition, 95 distributed generation plants, the Melones pond (receiving fuel) and the Santiago de Cuba pond, for a total of 864 MW, are out of service due to fuel. There are 14 plants with low coverage (91 MW), the report adds.

Precisely, this week the UNE announced that its largest thermoelectric plant, the Antonio Guiteras, would leave the system for more than two weeks in March.

A report from the entity on Facebook indicated that on Thursday, February 29, in the early hours of the morning, the Matanzas plant would stop providing service in a controlled manner with the aim of carrying out “undelayable” maintenance.
