Outgoing Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu and Selector Habibul Bashar Sumon congratulated the new Chief Selector of Bangladesh National Team Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu. Lipu himself gave this information.
Speaking to the journalists present at Shere BCB on Tuesday, Lipu said, ‘He (Nannu) congratulated me as soon as I was appointed to this post (Chief Selector). I have spoken with him. Suman also congratulated me.’
Citing the example of his own playing career, Lipu tries to explain that he does not think the task of team selection will be too difficult.
While playing for Abahani, he always had to face the heat of the main and arch-rival Mohammedan fans. Taking the example of that time, Lipu tried to explain that even while working in the position of Chief Selector, one may have to face many insults and criticism. He has prior experience of listening.
Lipu said, when we used to play domestic cricket, many spectators would come. Every day we had to abuse. It was not only arch-rival Mohammedan supporters who abused. If we lost, our (Abahani’s) supporters would also scold us.’
Lipu added, ‘We have to eat (expletive) wherever we are. If I am clear to my conscience, it seems not too difficult.’
