Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hamouda Sabbagh met today with the member of the Mauritanian National Assembly and head of the Syrian-Mauritanian Parliamentary Brotherhood Committee, Al-Dah Suhaib, and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Mauritanian Embassy in Damascus, Mohamed Sheikh Samba Bay.
During the meeting, Sabbagh stressed the depth and strength of the fraternal relations between Syria and Mauritania, and the necessity of strengthening them further and raising them to the highest levels, to include all fields and to reflect positively on the interests of the peoples of the two brotherly countries, appreciating Mauritania’s positions in support of Syria and its just causes in regional and international forums, especially in confronting the terrorist war that has been waged against it for 13 years.
Sabbagh touched on the looting of Syria’s wealth and capabilities by the American and Turkish occupations, and the barbaric Israeli aggression against Palestine that has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of innocent Palestinian martyrs, stressing the need to continue supporting the Palestinian cause and redoubling efforts to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
For his part, Suhaib reiterated the importance of working to expand the horizons of cooperation with Syria and develop it in all fields, especially scientific and cultural, because Syria had a prominent role in supporting the educational process in Mauritania during the last century, especially after Mauritania’s independence.
The meeting was attended by members of the People’s Assembly Bureau, and the head and members of the Syrian-Mauritanian Parliamentary Brotherhood Committee Bureau in the Assembly.
