The National Police Opens Opportunities to Investigate the Obstruction of Justice in the Vina Cirebon Case Perpetrated by the Perpetrator’s Family

JAKARTA – Head of Public Relations Division National Police Inspector General of Police Sandi Nugroho said that his party did not rule out the possibility of investigating cases of alleged obstruction of justice (OOJ) in the case murder of Vina Cirebon and Eky. The alleged obstruction of this investigation was allegedly carried out by the perpetrator’s family.

Sandi continued as suspected of hiding Pegi Setiawan alias Perong by his father. Also, the father’s role changed Pegi’s identity to Robi Irawan.

Due to this other identity, he said, the National Police had difficulty catching Pegi, who had been on the run since 2016.

“Will it later be linked to this case for other reporting? That is very possible, I said very possible. Very possible,” said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, to journalists, quoted on Saturday (22/6/2024).

Not only Pegi’s father, Sandi said that his party could also investigate the families of other perpetrators regarding the alleged OOJ. The reason is, Sandi revealed that based on the facts in court there were witnesses brought in by the perpetrator’s lawyer and the parents of the perpetrators who were asked not to provide information according to the facts.

In fact, said Sandi, the witness who was presented in court was lured by a certain amount of money so that he would not provide information in accordance with what he knew and saw.

“So, it is very possible that there will be another LP (police report) if this case continues,” he said.

However, Sandi has not specified when the OOJ allegations will be investigated. Because, currently his party is focusing on completing the handling of the murder case of Vina and Eky.

“However, the main thing now is that investigators will focus on exposing this sadistic murder as clearly as possible. Whoever the perpetrator is, we will take action according to the applicable law,” he said.
