In an exclusive interview with Independent Urdu, the President said that the Supreme Court did not reject the reference against Justice Faiz Isa, it was not satisfied and ordered no investigation. “Our country has a judiciary, so I accept the court’s decision.”

On April 26 this year, a 10-member bench of the Supreme Court accepted Justice Qazi Faiz Isa’s review petition against the presidential reference. The opposition in the media criticized the Tehreek-e-Insaf government, the law minister and the president for promoting this reference without any investigation.

The President inquired and said, ‘What else would I have done? The Supreme Court would say that you do not have the authority to investigate. Should I have investigated private people, FIA? I couldn’t.’

He said: ‘What was given within the reference was. His property was mentioned and he has not denied that it was his property.’

Told that the judge gave money trail in the court, then the President said where did he give it? ‘The court has not accepted all this. I had only the Supreme Judicial Council for an inquiry, where I sent a reference, what was wrong with it. The constitutional way was the original way.’

He said that everything will become clear when the detailed decision comes.

About the demand to resign, he said that it is unnecessary because he took action on it. ‘I had only three options. One is that I would have remained silent on it, the President would have sat on it and later said I have a lot of evidence so don’t play my tongue. The third option was constitutional and that was the only way.’

People’s Party

The political line and position of the People’s Party and the Tehreek-e-Insaf have started to match, so can the two parties come closer to each other to some extent? He said that he is in favor of dialogue and cooperation.
