The first activation of the anti-mine group of Bulgaria, Turkey and Romania in the Black Sea began on July 2, announced the Chief of Defense Admiral Emil Eftimov.
There will be three activations this year. During the first of them, the group will participate in the national exercise with international participation “Breeze 2024”.
The next two activations of the group will be in September and November.
What was stated at the political level has been backed up by efforts from the military side and the operation is starting, said Admiral Eftimov, quoted by BTA.
He commented that the preparation of the Bulgarian army continues and a demonstration is currently being observed at the “Shabla” anti-aircraft range.
The admiral specified that what is being worked on at the moment is not only air defense of the country on a national scale, but also on a collective scale.
He added that the exercise in which our country is participating is “Ramstein Legacy – 2024”.
According to his words, there are allied forces from Slovenia deployed on our territory, there are also representatives from the NATO coordination command center, which works out the procedures related to all the forces deployed in South-Eastern Europe, respectively in Romania.
The so-called NATO’s integrated air and missile defense system and in particular the rotational model – to deploy the forces and means of the allies from the center to the flank, to be in the common communication information environment, to include the national means and to work together.
Admiral Eftimov recalled that last week the exercise of the Land Forces “Thracian Warrior” was completed.
“What we have stated as a level of ambition – to have a multi-national headquarters of a division in Bulgaria, is going according to plan, we have worked out the concept of the “Koren” training ground and we have good results from the NATO ground command”, said Eftimov.
