Muriel Bowser, the mayor of Washington, the capital of the USA, signed the Declaration on the 106th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
Publika.az Referring to “Report”, the declaration stated that the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the first secular parliamentary republic in the Muslim East, was established on May 28, 1918, where women were granted voting rights.
At the same time, it was emphasized that more than 50 million Azerbaijanis around the world celebrated the Independence Day on the occasion of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
In addition, it was mentioned in the Declaration that thirty-three years have passed since the restoration of Azerbaijan’s independence and thirty-two years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United States and Azerbaijan.
In the Declaration signed by Mayor Bowser, he noted that the presence of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Washington and the contribution of the Azerbaijani community to the educational and cultural diversity of the city are greatly enriched.
It should be noted that the signing of the Declaration by the mayor of Washington on May 28 has already become a tradition.
