The Marrakesh International Film Festival Foundation is organizing a workshop to teach the principles of film criticism and improve it, for the benefit of journalists, with the aim of supporting and strengthening professional activity in the film sector.

This workshop will be directed to journalists specialized in the field of culture and cinema working in Morocco, who wish to learn the principles of film criticism, or to refine their practice in this field and acquire new tools to develop their skills.

The workshop will take place in mid-July in Casablanca, and will be moderated by Charles Tisson, Vice President of the French Syndicate of Film Criticism and former Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cinema.

Participants in this workshop will be selected after announcing a call for applications, which will end on June 25.

For reference, Charles Tisson assumed the responsibility of the general delegate of the “Criticism Week” section at the “Cannes” Festival from 2012 to 2021. He worked as a professor of cinema history at the New Sorbonne University and published many books on cinema, including: “Satyajit Ray” (1992), “Luis Buñuel.” ” (1995), “Theatre and Cinema” (2007), “Akira Kurosawa” (2008), and others.

This workshop – according to the Foundation’s statement – will make it possible to acquire special knowledge and skills about film criticism through film analysis and the practice of film criticism, whether related to preparing dialogue meetings or writing critical texts.
