The wider leadership of the governing Pirates will this afternoon evaluate the campaign and the results of the European Parliament (EP) elections, in which the party fell short of expectations last weekend and lost two of the three mandates with a gain of 6.20 percent of the vote. The meeting was convened at the initiative of other members of the Republican Committee by the party chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Ivan Bartoš, who is returning from a week-long ministerial trip to the United States shortly before the meeting. He told the Echo24 server that he wants to present some reforms to the party leadership today.
Pirates after winning 13.95 percent of the vote in the 2019 election this year they fell to 6.20 percent. The party aimed for up to four seats, but the mandate was defended only by the current MEP and number two on the candidate list, Markéta Gregorová. Bartoš called it a big disappointment a week ago. However, he does not think that he would be nthe necessary emergency convention that some members are calling for on the pirate forum.
Bartoš wants to introduce reforms that should concern, for example, the conduct of further campaigns, but also the necessary changes in the structure of the party. Pfrom him, it should be clearer how the Pirates work as a party and what they do for the voters.
The Republican Committee will meet on the initiative of the pirate deputy mayor of Prague, Zdenek Hřib, which was supported by the required number of members. According to Hřib, it is necessary to the committee met before the start of the regional and senate campaign of the Pirates, which the party had planned for Sunday. Pirates should evaluate their campaign, but also the functioning of the media and administrative department.
