Being alone doesn’t necessarily mean being lonely. Some very independent people have no problem booking a table for one or going on a solo vacation. But for others, it’s not a personal choice, rather an unwelcome aspect of their personality.
According to astrologers, the difference between these two types of people may lie in the date of birth. Distrustful, highly emotional people or those who are difficult to deal with are more likely to find themselves isolated sooner or later. Which five signs are among the loneliest?
Astrologer Kyle Thomas says this water sign is “the most sensitive zodiac sign of all, ruled by Neptune, the planet of intuition and spirituality, and Jupiter, the planet of hope.” Unfortunately, in many cases this sensitivity can lead to an acute sense of isolation. “Pisces are often detached from reality with their heads in the clouds, preferring fantasy to hard facts,” says Kyle Thomas. This can lead to them becoming lonely souls, preoccupied with their illusions and escapism rather than settling into reality. In doing so, Pisces seeks connection, but must learn to fully trust. “They love with all their heart, and because they fear betrayal, they prefer to be alone,” says astrologer Emily Newman.

Virgos are considered the perfectionists of the zodiac, which leads to them often cutting people out of their lives if they don’t feel like it’s a “perfect match.” On the other hand, their hypercritical nature can make others prefer to leave the relationship. “No one wants to spend time with people who are constantly finding fault with others,” says Emily Newman. In less extreme cases, Virgo’s nature may “just” prevent her from forming lasting bonds. They will get so bogged down in the details of meeting planning that they won’t even enjoy it.
Cancer is an extremely emotional sign. “Cancers are ruled by the Moon, which is a very self-reflective and nostalgic luminary,” notes astrologer Kyle Thomas, who says this can lead them to “obsess” about the past, ex-partners or what got away rather than focusing on presence. In addition, the sign of Cancer is considered the most moody of the entire zodiac. Crayfish’s mood swings can be difficult for outsiders to understand, and can repel others instead of attracting them. Therefore, Cancers find solace primarily with their family rather than going out and meeting new people.

Capricorns focus much of their energy on getting ahead at work, leaving little time for socializing and building relationships. “These workaholics prioritize success, wealth and career matters over their personal lives,” says astrologer Kyle Thomas. But this is something they may regret in the end, especially when they realize that they will not find love or affection in the arms of a career. This sign also takes a long time to let someone in, which also prevents them from connecting with others. But they don’t mind solitude. “They prefer to be alone and rest rather than socialize with others,” adds Emily Newman. If you invite a Capricorn to an event, there’s a good chance they’ll find a reason to back out at the last minute.
Scorpios have a reputation for being mysterious and secretive people. Because they are like this, they assume that others are the same as them, which leads to them being very suspicious and distrustful of people. “They take their time getting to know someone and prefer their own company until they are sure of the quality of the connection,” says Emily Newman.
