The Libyan sailing team participates in the African qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympics

Savaga, November 30, 2023 (Al-Anbaa Al-Libya) – The delegation of the Libyan sailing team, class “ILCA7”, arrived in the Egyptian city-state of “Safaga”, last night, in order to participate in the African qualifiers for the “Paris 2024” Olympics, which will start in the coming days in the period from ( 03 to 09) of next December.

The Libyan national team delegation included athletes Al-Moataz Billah Al-Munbi, Muhammad Jassim, coach Muhammad Barshan, and the team manager, Al-Hadi Al-Zawi.

Sailing and marine sports have witnessed distinguished activity since Abdel Moneim Bin Hariz took charge of the Libyan Sailing Federation. The federation succeeded in organizing many competitions, starting with a demonstration of sailing in the city of Tripoli on the beach of the Andalus neighborhood, then the Libyan Sailing Championship. “Aptamest” class in the city of Misrata, and the “Libya Kite Surfing Championship” in the city of Tobruk.

The Board of Directors of the Libyan Sailing and Marine Sports Federation also contracted with the Algerian coach, Mohamed Ben Wali, to supervise the team in the “Uppermost” category under (14) years, as a step towards developing the game.

The Libyan team also participated in foreign competitions, including the “U-14 African Championship for Sailing Boats, Optimist Class,” which was held in the city of M’diq in the Kingdom of Morocco last May, with the participation of (18) countries and more than (90) athletes.
