New Delhi (Vishvas News). During the Lok Sabha elections, a letter quoting the alleged organization ‘Sunni Muslims Majlis (Dubai) is going viral on social media. In the letter, in the context of the ongoing Lok Sabha election voting in India, it is written that full financial assistance will be provided to the Muslims participating in the Indian elections, from ticket booking, so that the BJP government can be removed.

The Association of Sunni Muslims (Dubai) announces full financial support, including ticket booking and reimbursement for already booked tickets, for Muslims participating in the Indian elections on May 7 in Karnataka and other states. The objective is to defeat fascist forces and restore the Indian National Congress, which is a true friend of Muslims, to power in these elections.’

Starting our investigation, first of all we searched ‘Association of Sunni Muslims (Dubai)’ on Google. During the search, we did not find any organization with this name present in Dubai. Nor was any verified account found with this name. Taking the investigation further, we searched the address of Association of Sunni Muslims (Dubai) in the viral letter on Google. During search we found this address of Pakistan Consulate in Dubai.
It can be clearly seen here that the address of Pakistan Consulate has been used in the name of Association of Sunni Muslims (Dubai), that is, a fake address is mentioned in the viral letter.
In further investigation, we contacted the first phone number given in the letter being viral. According to the reply received from there, this is the number of a cafe running in Dubai. Regarding the viral post, he had this to say, “Regarding the claim of Sunni Muslim Association’s alleged involvement in providing financial assistance to Muslim voters in the Indian general elections, I would like to clarify that I am not affiliated with the Sunni Muslim Association or the organization mentioned in the claim. I am not. “I have nothing to do with this matter.” He also shared the cafe’s website and social media handles with us.
Till now it was clear from the investigation that both the address and phone number have been wrongly used in the viral letter. However, taking our investigation forward, we tried to contact the remaining two numbers. The news will be updated when the response comes from there.
For confirmation related to the viral post, we contacted UAE journalist and fact checker Sanya Aziz and while giving information about the viral post, she said, this letter is completely fake, for non-UAE citizens, there is no religious- It is very difficult to create a based organization. Even if they get permission, they are not allowed to issue political statements like this. And the address given in this letter is of Pakistan Consulate in Dubai and not of any religious organization.
In social scanning of Facebook users who shared fake posts, we found that posts related to a particular ideology are shared by the users.
