Bashundhara Kings defeated Fortis FC 3-1 in Premier Football League in the first round. However, Oscar Brujon’s team had to win against the same team in the return leg. Kings beat Fortis 1-0 with Brazilian midfielder Miguel Damaseno’s goal.
Kings were ahead in attack at the Rajshahi District Stadium in the scorching heat on Saturday. But could not score more than one goal in this half.
Dorielton Gomez failed to capitalize on the opportunity in the fifth minute. The Brazilian striker broke the offside trap with a long pass by Masuk Mia Jonny. However, Dorietalan’s volley did not find the net after chesting the ball in the air.
Keeping the pressure on Fortis, the Kings got a goal in the 23rd minute, with the combination of Rakib-Dorielton-Miguel. In the last minute, Miguel beat the goalkeeper with a great shot from the outside with a great pass from Dorialton inside the box.
At 35 minutes the unexpected happened. Sabuj Hossain of Fortis tackled Miguel from behind in the middle of the field. Miguel did not take it well. He lost his temper and stood up and grabbed the green throat! The two sides got involved in a fight and argument. The game was stopped for about 5 minutes. Later referee Bhuvan Mohan spoke to two assistants of Tarafda and showed yellow cards to Sabuj, Miguel and Vishwanath. Miguel or anyone else did not feel the need to show a red card!
After the break, the game seemed to settle down. Both sides had chances to score. But there was no goal in this half.
In 48 minutes, Farhad Mia’s strong shot was directly palmed by Anisur Rahman Ziko. After a while, Sohail took the runner’s shot in the goalkeeper’s grip.
At the end Fortis could not even try to return to parity. Zico raised his hand to block a goal chance. Besides, Dorielton could not take a shot at the goal after finding the goalkeeper alone.
In the league, Kings are at the top with 31 points from 10 wins in 12 matches. Fortis FC’s fifth loss in the draw kept them in sixth place on 13 points.
