The Kayseri Branch President of the Service-Labor Union reacted to the workers who were dismissed from the Kayseri City Hospital

Hizmet-İş Union Kayseri Branch President Serhat Çelik reacted to ISS officials by saying that workers working at Kayseri City Hospital ISS were fired because they were members of their union.

The press conference held at Kayseri City Hospital was attended by Hizmet-İş Union Kayseri Branch President Serhat Çelik, union officials and victimized workers. Hizmet-İş Union Kayseri Branch President Serhat Çelik stated that the workers working for the ISS company operating at Kayseri City Hospital were dismissed because they were members of the Hizmet-İş Union and said; “As the workers who work under difficult, long and difficult conditions build a determined struggle together with our Union to change the system of misery, the ISS management has started ‘unionization operations’ with incomprehensible methods and terminated the employment of some of our members without giving any reason. The ISS company should immediately reverse this mistake, reinstate the members it dismissed to their jobs and respect the freedom of organization granted to workers by the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey. The right of workers to become unionized is also guaranteed by international agreements. These attacks by the ISS company are not only attacks on the rights of our members working at Kayseri City Hospital ISS company, but also on the rights of all employees. We would like to remind you of the statement on the official website of the ISS company as follows; ‘Every ISS employee in our customers’ facilities is one of us.’ Dear company officials; is your attitude towards those who are from you to lose their jobs because they are organized? No matter which country they are in, what their beliefs are, what their views are, what you are doing is oppression. “There is no explanation for what you have done in any language or belief,” he said.

Stating that workers who were unlawfully dismissed were never alone, Çelik said, “The sacrifices made by our members who disregarded their lives during the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic, who did not go home for months, who worked face to face with death in the most critical areas of hospitals should not be forgotten. During those difficult times, workers could not approach and hug their children and families. Now sacrifices are being asked of us. How can you forget the sacrifices we made back then, the price we paid with our lives? Workers who are faced with increasingly difficult working conditions, who you condemn to work two or three jobs at the same time, who you apply a ‘more work, less pay’ policy to, and who you dismiss by disregarding the law, are never alone. As the Hizmet-İş Union, we are here to shout out loud that we stand by the Kayseri City Hospital ISS workers with all our means against these games. As workers who make this world more livable, we will not leave the field to you. We will resist until our rights are granted. Kayseri City Hospital said, “We will never remain silent for our working brothers and sisters whose futures were taken away by the ISS company, and we will never bow to pressure and threats.
