More than 20 teams will fight for the championship of the Inter Barrios Peñoles Soccer League, which held its opening ceremony last Tuesday night on the field of Section 74, in the Vicente Guerrero neighborhood, in this city.
Men’s and women’s squads will play in search of the championship in this nascent league that seeks to promote physical activation and coexistence among athletes who live in the neighborhoods surrounding Industrias Peñoles, where for generations soccer has been played at a very good level. The opening ceremony was led by Lino Juárez, Community Development coordinator of Industrias Peñoles, who was accompanied by Ramón Chufani, director of the Torreón Municipal Sports Institute; Esteban González, general secretary of Section 74 of Peñoles; Bibiano Tovar Martínez, sports coordinator of Unidad Revolucionaria and Víctor Ramos, director of Crime Prevention of the Municipality of Torreón.
Civic honors were paid to the Flag and the Glorious Mexican National Anthem was sung, with the support of the escort and war band of the National Technological Institute of Mexico Campus La Laguna, and then the teams participating in the cup were presented. “We as a company, like Peñoles, one of our programs, a fundamental pillar of our social commitment, is the promotion of sport.
