The hotel booked by the blogger turned out to be a mirage

Traveler and blogger Mark Jeavons discovered that the hotel in Egypt he booked was actually fictitious, Liter.kz reports with reference to New York Post.

Mark, who has visited more than 40 countries and blogs about his travels, had planned a four-night stay at the Pyramids and Sphinx View Hotel in Giza, for which he was expecting to pay around £40 a night. However, when he arrived late at night, he was met with an unpleasant surprise: instead of a hotel, he found an empty back street.

“There was nothing at the address. It was just an empty street with no sign of a hotel. The taxi driver tried to ask passersby, but no one had heard of such a place. I was completely confused: the situation was far from ideal,” Mark said.

He found the hotel on Booking.com, which didn’t require a deposit, and planned to pay for it when he checked in. Instead of comfortable accommodation, he had to find emergency accommodation, and after more than an hour, he found it at another hotel, paying twice as much.

Following Mark’s complaint to Booking.com, the hotel was removed from the platform, but traces of it can still be found on the hotel comparison site Trivago, where it is listed without photos or reviews, but with a location indicated on a map.

By the way, a representative of Booking.com assured that after the investigation, the company will definitely contact the client and provide the necessary support.
