«…the image of a large Mediterranean lake
with long and slow mountains,
and the inverse reflection of those mountains
in the great lake.
(“Lugano”, JL Borges)
Ñuñoa stands out for several of its neighborhoods, one of them occupies the geographical location between Irarrázaval and Grecia avenues in the surroundings of Pedro de Valdivia. Neighborhood that maintains some beautiful houses coexisting next to modern buildings that unfortunately in some cases hid the sun and the mountain range. In its streets, several cafes and restaurants with very pleasant atmospheres with a variety of gastronomic offers.
The Swiss Club of Santiago appears on Dublé Almeyda Street, which offers a strong program of cultural and sports activities along with recreational spaces to enjoy good food. This club is a beautiful space converted into a lung of this commune given the care of the green space it has. Inside is the Italian food restaurant “Lugano” that pays tribute to that beautiful Swiss lake.
Lugano is a Mediterranean place with a strong Italian legacy, which is why this restaurant honors the good preparation of these meals, mainly pastas with different sauces, risotto and pizzas, with fresh quality products such as prosciutto, parmesan, mushrooms and arugula, highlighting an exquisite sangria or glasses of chilled prosecco for this time of year.
The work of excellence deserves to be highlighted for the preparations of its owner Catherine Corredor, executive chef with a career close to 30 years of experience in the field, born in Venezuela with a direct Italian family origin. Her vocation for food made from the heart as a means of vital expression, enchanted by the art of home cooking that highlights Italian culture. “Lugano” in this neighborhood of Ñuñoa also generates that necessary experience of multicultural coexistence. Visiting this terrace is a privileged experience for the necessary relaxed meeting around a table.
