A new twist occurs in the investigation into the deadly robbery of a cash-point agent, which occurred in Mananara Avaratra in July 2025. Seriously injured during the attack, the victim was evacuated to Toamasina to receive treatment, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. During the investigations carried out by the competent authorities, two detainees were identified as potential suspects in this case. During a check at the Mananara Avaratra central house, they were nowhere to be found.
According to information gathered, they managed to escape and remain, to this day, actively sought. This disappearance led investigators to focus on the possible role of the head of the penitentiary establishment, suspected of having facilitated the release of prisoners considered dangerous. Arrested for the first time in Maroantsetra and questioned on July 25, he was placed in pre-trial detention on Tuesday November 18, 2025, as part of continuing investigations.
