The government will give Tk 1039 crore for four projects including Matarbari port – 2024-03-21 19:52:35

The Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement has approved four proposals of the Ministry of Shipping, including one for the purchase of various facilities and equipment under the Matarbari Port Development Project and three proposals for Brahmaputra river dredging. The total cost will be 1 thousand 39 crore 3 lakh 8 thousand 994 taka.

This approval was given in the cabinet committee meeting on government procurement held on Wednesday (March 20) under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali. At the end of the meeting, the Secretary of Coordination and Reform of the Cabinet Division announced the decision of the meeting. Mahmudul Hossain Khan.

He informed that the procurement proposal for design, manufacturing, supply and installation of container handling equipment, terminal operation system and security system (package-2A) has been approved under the ‘Matarbari Port Development’ project.

Japan’s Mitsui Equipments & Machinery and Tech International Consortium will implement the project. It will cost 799 crore 49 lakh 36 thousand 404 taka. Chittagong Port Authority is implementing this project with JICA funding.

In view of another proposal of the Ministry of Shipping, approval has been given to the proposal to purchase the completion of dredging of the old Brahmaputra River (Package-3, Lot-4). Under the project dredging will be carried out under the project ‘Navigation Development and Restoration of Old Brahmaputra, Dharla, Tulai and Punarbhava Rivers’.

Mir Akhtar Hussain Limited and Confidence Infrastructure Limited will jointly implement the project. It will cost 82 crore 67 lakh 31 thousand 900 taka.

The Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement has approved the proposal for the purchase of the completion work of Package-3, Lot-5 of the same project. Waheed Construction Limited and Orient Building & Builders Limited will implement the project. It will cost 87 crore 62 lakh 67 thousand taka.

Apart from this, approval has been given to the proposal for the purchase of the completion work of the package-4, lot-5 of the dredging project of the old Brahmaputra river. Nabarun Traders Limited and Aqua Marine Dredging Limited will jointly implement it. It will cost 69 crore 23 lakh 73 thousand 690 taka.
