The government has decided to buy 55 thousand metric tons of rock phosphate and phosphoric acid through the international open tender system. The cost of buying this fertilizer is 284 crore 91 lakh 90 thousand 562 taka. This includes 25 thousand tons of rock phosphate and 30 thousand tons of phosphoric acid.
The Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement has approved the purchase of this fertilizer in view of the proposal of the Ministry of Industries. At the same time, an expenditure of Tk 125 crore 19 lakh 95 thousand 652 has been approved for the construction of housing colony and other facilities of Ghorashal Palash Urea Fatilizer Project.
This approval was given in the cabinet committee meeting on government procurement held on Wednesday (March 20) under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali. He said, in view of the proposal of the Ministry of Industry, approval has been given to import 30 thousand metric tons of phosphoric acid in three lots. In the first lot, 10,000 metric tons of phosphoric acid will be purchased for Tk 63 crore 47 lakh. And in the remaining two lots, approval has been given to buy 20 thousand tons of phosphoric acid for Tk 126 crore 94 lakh.
In view of another proposal of the Ministry of Industry, approval has been given to buy 25 thousand tons of rock phosphate at 94 crore 50 lakh 90 thousand 562 taka. This fertilizer will be purchased from M/s Desh Trading Corporation. The price per metric ton is fixed at 342.89 USD.
The secretary said that in view of the proposal of the Ministry of Industry, the purchase proposal has been approved for the implementation of the works included in package W-3 in the construction of housing colony and other facilities of the Ghorashal Palash Urea Fatilizer project through open tender system. Tama Construction has been awarded the job. It will cost 125 crore 19 lakh 95 thousand 652 taka.
