The government of Minas defines optional holidays and points for 2024

The holidays and optional holidays for 2024 in state public offices were announced this Thursday (4/1), by the government of Minas, through a statement appearing in the official state gazette, Minas Gerais. According to information, this year there will be ten optional points and 11 holidays for state employees, including nine national and two municipal.

Among the optional points are February 12th and 13th, when Carnival is celebrated, and the 14th of the same month, marked by Ash Wednesday. The optional Civil Servants’ Day event will take place on October 28.

As for national holidays, this includes November 20th, the date on which National Zombie and Black Consciousness Day is celebrated. The two municipal holidays are August 15, the day of Our Lady of Boa Viagem, patron saint of the capital and other municipalities, and December 8, when the consecration to the Immaculate Conception is celebrated in Belo Horizonte and in some cities.

The statement highlights that medical and hospital services are exceptions to the calendar. The list includes the State Department of Health (SES), the Central Laboratory of Public Health, of the Ezequiel Dias Foundation (Funed), the emergency and emergency hospital services of the Employees’ Welfare Institute of the State of Minas Gerais (Instituto de Previdência dos Servidores do Estado de Minas Gerais) (Ipsemg) and services related to blood donation of the Hemominas Foundation.

The list also does not include public security services, Integrated Services Units (UAI), Fundação TV Minas Cultural e Educativa and museums, which are considered essential.
