The government has decided to buy urea, DAP fertilizer and phosphoric acid worth Tk 438 crore 91 lakh 37 thousand 500 from the local and international markets. This includes DAP fertilizer worth Tk 253 crore 44 lakh, urea fertilizer worth Tk 122 crore 55 lakh 37 thousand 500 and phosphoric acid of Tk 62 crore 92 lakh.
This approval was given at the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement held under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Abul Hasan Muhammad Ali in the conference room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat on Thursday (February 29).
After the meeting, Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Syed Mahbub Khan informed the reporters.
He said that the purchase of 40,000 metric tons of DAP fertilizer of the second lot from Aden in Saudi Arabia has been approved under the state-level agreement under the G2G method. The total cost will be 253 crore 44 lakh taka. The price will be USD 576 per metric ton. Which was earlier 589 USD.
He said, for the financial year 2023-24, approval has been given to purchase 30 thousand metric tons of bagged granular urea fertilizer from Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (Kafco) Bangladesh in the 14th lot. The total cost will be 122 crore 55 lakh 37 thousand 500 taka. The price will be 371.375 USD per metric ton. Which was earlier 316. 625 USD.
Besides, the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement has approved the purchase of 10,000 metric tons of phosphoric acid through international open tender. The total cost will be 62 crore 92 lakh taka. The price will be 572 USD per metric ton. Which was previously 582 dollars.
The main supplier or manufacturer is Junzhuai Eco Technology Co., Ltd. of China. M/s Best Eastern will supply as representative of Dhaka.
