The government has decided to buy soybean oil, palm oil and lentils worth Tk 362 crore 92 lakh 55 thousand for Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB). This includes soybean oil worth Tk 75 crore 72 lakh 50 thousand, palm oil worth Tk 185 crore 90 lakh and lentil worth Tk 101 crore 30 lakh.
The Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement has approved the purchase of pulses and oil. This approval was given in the cabinet committee meeting chaired by Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali on Monday (May 27).
At the end of the meeting, the Secretary of Coordination and Reform of the Cabinet Department. Mahmudul Hossain Khan told reporters that when three proposals of the Ministry of Commerce were raised on the table, all three proposals were approved. Of this, permission has been granted for TCB to purchase 50 lakh liters of soybean oil locally through open tender process.
The total cost to buy this soybean oil will be 75 crore 72 lakh 50 thousand taka. The price per liter will be 151 taka 45 paisa. The previous price was 152 taka 45 paisa. Soybean oil will be bought at a price of one taka per liter less than before. The recommended bidder is Sonargaon Sixcrossing Mills Limited.

In another proposal of the Ministry of Commerce, the Cabinet Committee approved the purchase of 1.3 million liters of refined palm oil for TCB. The price per liter will be Rs. 143. The total cost will be 185 crore 90 lakhs. The recommended bidder is Sungsing Edible Well Limited of Dhaka.
Besides, the cabinet committee approved the import of 10 thousand metric tons of lentils for trading TCB under the support that the government is providing to one crore families. The price of lentil drill per kg will be 101 taka 30 paisa. According to this, the total price will be 101 crore 30 lakh taka.
Earlier on May 21, the cabinet committee approved the purchase of one crore 10 lakh liters of soybean oil from Super Oil Refinery Limited through local open tender process. The cost is estimated at 182 crore 40 lakh taka. And the price of soybean oil per liter is estimated at 152 taka 45 paisa.
