Charity above the Golden Shoe. In recent years, Club Brugge has often been the protagonist of the annual football festival, but soon none of the blue and blacks will be present anymore. Tonight, Club Brugge’s charity evening will take priority.
Don’t look for Simon Mignolet or Hans Vanaken in the Golden Boot tonight.
In the recent past the Club’s players were the protagonists of the football gala, but in this edition exceptionally none of the Bluneri will be present. No players, no staff members and not even the board of directors.
Which Club has little chance of winning the top prizes this year? It has nothing to do with this. Blauw-zwart has a noble excuse: their charity evening is also scheduled for tonight.
Due to the subsequent winter training and cup competitions, the Golden Boot organization had to search for a suitable place in the calendar for a long time. It was normally initially scheduled for January 11, but the event ended up being moved up a week.
At that moment Club Brugge had also set January 18th to celebrate properly.
Blue-Black’s Charity Night is the New Year’s Eve reception for Partners, which since 2020 is entirely dedicated to charity.
The first edition raised 155,885 euros. After two years of absence from the coronavirus, last year’s evening raised a record sum of 300,000 euros for the Club Brugge Foundation and the Special Olympics.
Make-A-Wish takes center stage tonight.
