Guido Girardi, vice president of Fundación Encuentros del Futuro, co-organizer of the event, stated that “young people will be the ones to address the challenges and opportunities that new technologies pose to us. It is important that they can be the protagonists and promoters of public policies that ensure the well-being and development of the country. Therefore, as a foundation, we invite them to join in building the country they long for, to connect, organize and discuss what they want for future generations.”

The event on Friday in Room A1 of the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center (GAM) will feature immersive experiences, workshops led by institutions that are changing the world, and interactive talks, in which attendees will be able to comment and participate in the activities in person and virtually.

To face the challenges of the future, it is necessary to share experiences, visions and dreams among different generations. Senator and President of the Commission on Future Challenges, Science, Technology and Innovation Juan Antonio Coloma highlighted the contribution that young people make today.

“Today the world tends to be short-term, sometimes immediate, sometimes frenetic. QI want to stop along the way and take advantage of all those impulses, those desires, that strength, also to think, in the longer term, how we see society, culture, sports, jobs, medicine, housing, “So many exciting things,” the senator said.

Interactive talks with online voting, video podcasts, art installations, musical performances, virtual hosts, augmented reality and stand-up comedy will be part of the offering that attendees will be able to find.

So from there we seek to be able to share experiences, we as a team know that after this event Collaborations between organizations arise or young people come together who are positively influencing our society. to generate projects, to be able to move forward. The organization was based on the analysis of data from different surveys on people between 15 and 30 years old, which reveal two types of youth: one interested in making articulated decisions and another that is not interested. “Apparently this last group is the majority, but we believe that this lack of interest has more to do with ignorance than with carelessness and that is why we are inviting them to meet and connect with groups of young people who are projecting possible futures,” adds Gonzalo Rosas, general producer of Fundación Encuentros del Futuro.

These contents are in line with the commitment of the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center for 2024, which invites a meeting between past and future under the motto “remember your futures.”

For its Director of Programming and Audiences, María José Cifuentes, “when we bring together art and science we can propose new perspectives on the world we live in and the futures we want to build from different sensibilities, and that only adds value. This activity reinforces our commitment to Remember Your Futures, our motto for this year, which focuses on the importance of keeping the future in mind in our daily lives, because the actions we take today are those that shape tomorrow.”

To end the event, urban artist Condy will take the stage and perform a selection of songs from her debut album “PuDo HaBeR SidO,” released last year.
