The method used by the French government does not bode well for the global consensus.
Publika.az informs that this was mentioned in the address of Dominique Fochi, Secretary General of the Caledonian Unity Movement (UC).
The letter stated that the Loyalists and Unionists had filed a complaint against the CCAT (Coordination of Action on the Ground) and quoted the president (referring to the Caledonian Union – ed.) twice in their statement on February 22 after last Wednesday’s mobilization in Noumea:
“The Caledonian Union Movement (UC) deplores the clashes that have occurred. However, the forced adoption of a constitutional bill to grant voting rights to indigenous people and residents who have lived in the country for more than a decade without any local consensus is a provocation by the French government, which supports a powder keg in solving the Caledonian problem. Loyalist and Union leaders are undermining social peace in the country by online statements supporting the central government in forcing the adoption of a constitutional bill and by showing their readiness to introduce an amendment designed to change their representation and attempt to overturn the Noumea Agreement. suspends all discussion until further notice, because the president of the Southern Province and others continue to support the policy of opening the French electoral body without any local consensus. As a result, they constantly show real hatred for the independents, whom they accuse of being the root cause of all the country’s problems, and against the UC president and they start attacking the CCAT they complain about”.
The UC also takes into account the decision of the French Senate to postpone the provincial elections until a constitutional reform aimed at increasing the Caledonian electorate: “Senators have approved by 34 votes to 307 this bill postponing the next provincial elections no later than December 15, 2024, but this bill It paves the way for the Macron government’s method of increasing voters, while at the same time the government says it wants to give it a chance to reach an agreement. Where is the logic? UC reminds us that peace in this country has always been built on respect, consensus and an impartial government at the service of all. The central government supported by local clones The method he uses does not bode well for global consensus.”
