Former Barca star Arda Turan received a one-year prison sentence after being convicted of tax fraud in Spain.
After determining that Arda Turan committed tax fraud in 2015 and 2016, the player was sentenced to one year in prison and fined a sum of 630,000 Euros. This is the result of not fully paying personal income tax from Turan’s business and advertising activities during that period.
However, because this was the first time Turan violated tax laws in Spain and the prison sentence did not exceed two years, the former Barca star received a suspended sentence and had to pay a large amount of money to pay the fine according to regulations.

Arda Turan joined Barca from Atletico Madrid in 2015. However, injuries and constantly being on the bench caused this player’s form to decline. Turan was then loaned to Basaksehir in Türkiye in 2018. After the loan period ended, the midfielder moved to Galatasaray and decided to retire in 2022.
In recent years, there have been many cases related to tax evasion or tax fraud in Spanish football. Tax authorities here have targeted famous players and coaches. Messi, Ronaldo, Mourinho… are all related to these allegations.
