The first documented crash of the Tesla Cybertruck proved that Goliath is no joke

You can think anything about the Cybertruck, but you can’t deny one thing: with a weight of over 3 tons and a partially bulletproof body, other cars on the road will bounce more than anything else. The first documented accident in normal traffic does not contradict these expectations.

Perhaps no other car has been talked about as much in recent weeks as the latest new Tesla. For better or for worse, Cybertruck has managed to impress everywhere, from its appearance to its technical solutions. And although, many years after the presentation of its concept, it remains a mystery when its full production will begin, the first series examples are finally hitting the streets of California and in particular Texas.

It was only a matter of time before one of the sold or pre-production cars was involved in an accident. This happened yesterday, after two in the afternoon, on the so-called Skyline Boulevard, near Palo Alto, in the first mentioned American state. We can immediately say that the driver of the Tesla was innocent this time, as he was moving in an orderly manner on a winding suburban road when a Toyota Corolla driver who was only 17 years old (the legal driving age in these parts of the USA) it literally hit him from the opposite direction.

According to the California Highway Patrol, for unknown reasons the driver of the Corolla went off the road to the right, from there the car bounced back, crossed in the opposite direction and hit the side of the Cybertruck right there. As before, the cause of the accident is unclear, but the vehicle was wet and, considering the nature of the road and the age of the driver, we can expect a simple loss of control. The indication that the Tesla’s Autopilot was inactive at the time of the accident is completely irrelevant, the fault lies 100% with the other driver who, like the two passengers of the Tesla, fortunately survived the accident without significant injuries. Only the driver of the Cybertruck complained of neck pain after the accident, but he refused hospitalization, so it was probably nothing serious.

Ultimately, what interests us are the aftermath of the accident, in which we see a severely devastated Toyota, even though it flew into the Cybertruck. It had to take the impact on its side, which usually provides the least protection for the crew, yet it appears the Corolla bounced off the Tesla, leaving only a few relatively small scratches. Well, this Toyota is a “normal” car, the Cybertruck is a 3.1 ton monster with bulletproof body panels, some inequality in such a “ride” is to be expected. See the consequences for yourself below.

The Tesla Cybertruck is an automotive monster in its own right, after all it’s no wonder that other cars on the road almost bounce off it in a crash, as you can see below. Photo: Tesla
