By broadcasting commission meetings live, the Chamber wants to ensure more transparency and make political decision-making processes easier for the public to understand. Initially, this is a pilot project involving five parliamentary committees (agriculture, housing, environment, education and media), which will meet publicly in the future – in principle, because according to the rules, each committee can decide “to hold a meeting in whole or in part exclude the public.”
MPs will now speak less in parliament
Streaming and replay are on the Chamber website available. The first meeting to be broadcast as part of this test phase is that of the Media and Communications Committee on April 16 at 3:30 p.m. On April 17, the meetings of the Housing Commission (11:30 a.m.) and the Health Committee (2 p.m.) will be broadcast in real time.
Joint meetings with other committees not participating in the pilot remain closed to the public unless the commission members give their consent.
