The Final After Getting Megawati’s Blessing

JAKARTA – Candidate for Governor (Cagub) of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung admitted that he had refused to run in the Jakarta gubernatorial election. His decision to run was after receiving the blessing of the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) General Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri.

Pramono admitted that just yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, August 27, 2024, he was asked by PDIP Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri to run with Deputy Governor Candidate (Cawagub) Rano Karno.

“So the final, if I want to be honest, I actually kept trying not to advance, kept trying not to advance, the final was just yesterday afternoon. I met Mrs. Mega, Mrs. Mega said ‘Pram is final’, because I have been with Mrs. Mega for 27 years. So the relationship is indeed very close and I actually don’t want to interfere in the party, I don’t want to appear, but because of this mandate I said to her ‘Mbak, okay Bismilah I will advance with Rano, I ask for your prayers and blessings’. That’s all. So it was just yesterday,” said Pramono at his residence in the Cilandak area, South Jakarta on Wednesday (28/8/2024).

“Yes, it is rejected, not not yet, (but) rejected,” he added.

Pramono emphasized that because he had received the blessing and mandate to run in the Jakarta gubernatorial election, he would work hard. “Yes, the point is, at first I did not want to and I refused, but once again because I have accepted this, I will work hard earnestly for what is this mandate to be realized,” he said.

Pramono admitted to receiving encouragement from internal party cadres, but it was conveyed directly by Megawati. “Yes, within the party, there are many. But the one who conveyed it directly to me, Mrs. Mega,” he said.
