Doğukan Güngör, who portrayed the character of Fatih in the “Kızılcık Sherbet” series, was a guest in the “Ali and Between Us” program.
Publika.az reports that the 27-year-old actor announced in the program that his father is Azerbaijani.
“My father is Azerbaijani. We are from Igdir, my father studied at Hacettepe University. He worked as an advisor in the Parliament. Then he lived in Germany. My parents separated when I was 7 years old. I went to Izmir with my mother. I spent 3-4 months of the year in Germany with my father. As soon as school was over, I would get on the plane and go to him. My father was an intellectual. My mother immigrated to Thessaloniki, they are Ataturkists. My father’s side is Azerbaijani, so he is more conservative.”
He said that he experienced one of the episodes in the series in which he acted in real life. So, there was a scene in the series stating that it is wrong to keep a dog in a house where prayers are held. Gungor also said that he was a witness to such a ban because his father’s side is a Shia sect: “It was strange to me when I heard about it. But it is real. My father’s side is Shiite. So is that sect. When I was in the village, I would pet the dog. The whole family stood up saying “it is dirty”. They said, “Your prayer and ablution will not be accepted.” I have tattoos on my arms, but I used to wear long sleeves in the heat. Of course, it was not mandatory, I did it out of respect.” (“Caucasusinfo”)
