The Electoral Court washed its hands for the “Spartans”

In a sense, the supreme judges decided not to decide – and the “Spartans” will remain in Parliament, possibly until the next national election. I mention this because a postponement, not until further notice, but until the criminal pending case for the “Spartans” is completed, is the result of the Electoral Court’s decision on the objections that had been discussed for months. The members of the Supreme Special Court on the merits at this point in time have shown that they are…washing their hands and turning the compass towards criminal justice. Legal circles said that this decision was the least likely scenario for what is to come regarding the “Spartans” party.

After this development, everything will depend on the decisions of the criminal courts before which the accused deputies of the “Spartans” will be tried for the crime of deceiving the electorate. As a matter of fact, in order to make the final decision, the irrevocable decision of the criminal justice system is necessary.

And the trial may have been initially set for June 19, but no one knows if it will actually start or if it will be postponed, no one knows how long it will last, and certainly no one is in a position to know the court’s decision. In any case, the Electoral Court postponed the debate without even setting a new conference date. The first objection is directed against the president of the “Spartiates” Vasilis Stiga (Southern Sector of Attica), of the deputy Petrou Dimitriadis (B’ Thessaloniki), his former legal advisor Ilias Kasidiarisas well as against the second Deputy Member of Parliament of Thessaloniki Akrivis Petropoulos. The second objection is directed against MP B’ Piraeus of the “Spartians” Alexander Gerveas, but also against the decision of the A1 Political Department of the Supreme Court regarding the part concerning the declaration of the deputies. The latter is therefore the one that could judge the fate of all the “Spartans”.
