The holidays in Santa Catarina, awaited all year round by a group of gauchos, turned into a nightmare at the end of the year. The 68 tourists found the inn booked in Itapema for R$33,900 under construction. To avoid having to return home and travel 600 kilometers first, they found accommodation in Garopaba.

The information comes from g1 SC, which had access to the contract, which provided for the rental between December 28th and January 1st. The document, dated March of this year, specifies that the space rented for December was under construction, but also guarantees habitable suites and dining rooms, already equipped with furniture and appliances, such as minibar and air conditioning, and utensils, including crockery .
According to Laís Leichtweis, daughter of the tour organizers, before the group’s departure, the owner had told them that only two public toilets would be unfinished and that they would be closed.
In a video recorded by the group, however, you can see walls still without plaster, floors without paving, exposed pipes and electrical lines, construction materials, wood and bricks scattered inside the building and stacked beds.

The Military Police were called and a police report was filed. Delegate Ícaro Malveira informed, again on Thursday (28), that the facts will be established through an investigation and that the victims and witnesses will be identified through the investigation.
Procon was also contacted and, despite having no legal authority to act in the case, advised tourists to take legal action to recover the correct amount.
Contacted on the 28th, the owner informed the journalist, via a messaging app, that the group remained in the city, but in another location, not confirmed by the tourists. He also said that “the inn exists and is here”.
On the morning of the 29th, before this article was published, he deleted the message and did not post a new location.

With nowhere to stay, the group from Rio Grande do Sul returned to their home state. On the way back, still to Santa Catarina, he managed to find on his own, according to Laís, an inn in Garopaba, where everyone was housed.
— We are originally from the cities of the interior of Rio Grande do Sul, everyone is honest workers. There are elderly couples, families with children traveling and we are simple – said Laís.
For the new location each passenger paid 200 more than what was already agreed and the organizers covered the rest.
“We might have to sell some goods when we get home,” he mused.
