JAKARTA – Political observer Ray Rangkuti encourages political parties to roll out the right to inquiry in the DPR to expose allegations of fraud and abuse of power in the 2024 presidential election. According to Ray, political parties that have made statements supporting the right to inquiry will be punished by the people for not keeping their promises if they do not roll it out.

The punishment could be in the form of the people not supporting the candidate supported by the political party in the simultaneous regional elections which will take place in November 2024. The founder of the non-governmental organization (NGO) Lingkar Madani Indonesia (Lima) reminded that the right to inquiry should not be hampered by impeaching the president.

Because the purpose of the right of inquiry is to uncover allegations of illegal use of power to win certain candidate pairs. He believes that it would be better if the right of inquiry was rolled out to find out whether there was any abuse of power by the president, the politicization of social assistance, the mobilization of state apparatus in the implementation of the 2024 presidential election.

“If it is not proven, the winner of the election will become more legitimate and the president will be free from assumptions about using power. If proven, this will be capital for evaluation. So don’t worry about the questionnaire changing the election results, this is difficult. “The right to inquiry is not dangerous, it actually educates the public,” said Ray, quoted from the RON!N channel, quoted Saturday (30/3/2024).

Furthermore, he said there were three things that prevented political parties from implementing the right to inquiry. First, there is still waiting between political parties as to who will lead.

Second, there has not been a growing sense of trust between political parties. Third, a pragmatic attitude among political party elites. Ray emphasized that the important thing now for political parties is to prove that the right to inquiry works so that people do not judge political parties as only lip service.

“Proving it to the people is not sweet on the lips, if it is not supported at the plenary, it is no problem, but the important thing is that it has been implemented. “Like PKS, PKB, Nasdem Party, because they have repeatedly said they are pushing for a questionnaire, they should not back down,” he concluded.
