The Director-General of the International Labor Organization, Gilbert Fosun Hongbo, Monday in Rabat, praised the Moroccan experience in the field of disbursing state social workers.
Hongbo said, in a statement to the press following his talks with the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Enterprise, Employment and Skills, Younes Skouri, that “Morocco plays a very important role in the International Labor Office (…) and I would like to express our satisfaction with the Moroccan experience, especially within the framework of the social state.” .
In this regard, he added: “There is an actual implementation of these workshops in Morocco, whether at the level of universalizing social protection or targeting the most vulnerable social groups, and other measures.”
In parallel, Hongbo praised the government’s efforts that made it possible to increase the amount of the legal minimum wage for non-agricultural activities (SMIG), as well as the amount of the legal minimum wage for agricultural activities (SMAG).
He pointed out that “the social dialogue, which culminated in the signing of a historic agreement on April 29, is another example of the importance that the International Labor Office attaches, specifically to the efforts made by the Moroccan government.” We must also discuss together the extent to which the Moroccan experience can be useful to other countries.”
For his part, Al-Sakuri stressed the importance of Hongbo’s visit to Morocco, which comes directly after the agreement signed between the government, unions and enterprise representatives, and also after the launch of the state’s social workshops, the direct social support project, and the generalization of social protection and health coverage, as well as the direct housing support program. .
The minister said in this context: “We rely on the visionary vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God grant him victory. The government is making unremitting efforts to implement this royal vision in a tangible and practical way. Today, we are also working to strengthen our cooperation with international bodies that are considered global references in this field,” considering that the Kingdom has established a “model to follow” for the countries of the South, but also at the international level.
This visit constitutes an opportunity for Hongbo to hold meetings with a number of ministers and officials, as well as to participate in a high-level tripartite meeting on the social state and social dialogue, as well as in a high-level round table on social justice and the transformations taking place in the labor market.
