The representative of the Moroccan delegation did not miss the reminder that the last elections for the year 2021 recorded the highest participation rate at the national level amounted to 66.94 percent; This is what, as he put it, is strengthened, “the extent of clinging to the Moroccan democratic path and the conscious engagement in the institutional construction of the state.”

In a statement singled out by the electronic newspaper Hespress, Mohamed Aba, a member of the Council of El -Ayoun Al -Sakia El Hamra, confirmed that his participation in the works of the fourth committee to liquidate the colonialism at the United Nations comes in response to an official invitation, and in continuation of his continuous presence in this international forum since 2017; Including sessions previously held in East Timor, explaining that “his presence as an elected representative of the Moroccan Sahara population is a natural extension of the task of field pleading on the reality of development and democracy witnessed by the southern regions of the Kingdom.”

For its part, Al -Ghalia Bahia, a member of the Dakhla Wadi Al -Dahab Council Council, said that the development dynamic that the southern provinces of the Kingdom, headed by the Dakhla Valley, constitutes a practical embodiment of a strategic vision led by King Mohammed VI, aims to consolidate the comprehensive integration of these regions within the national development model, through structured projects that translate a strong political will to build prosperous and connected regions With its regional and continental oceans.
Bahia stressed, in an intervention in the same session, that the Dakhla side is classified today among the most prominent centers of emerging growth in the Kingdom, thanks to huge investments that concerned the infrastructure sectors, from roads, ports and airports, as well as renewable energy projects that invest the huge natural capabilities of the region in the fields of solar and comfortable energy; This makes it a strategic lever for investment and green development.
The representative of the entity also highlighted that Dakhla plays a pivotal role in promoting Morocco’s openness to its African depth, by turning into an economic and logistical platform linking North Africa and its west, where projects of concern to preparing industrial areas continue, expanding the tourism offer, and encouraging investments in the sectors of marine fishing and sustainable agriculture, in a manner that ensures the benefit of the local population and enshrines an inclusive field.

In a similar intervention, Duwaihi reported that the economic dynamism that the southern regions know, through major projects such as the Atlantic Port of Dakhla and the Tiznit -Dakhla Highway, represents a real crane to improve development indicators and create job opportunities for young people, adding that “the virtue of this transformation is due to a clear political will looking to make the Moroccan Sahara a center of intersection between Africa and Europe.”

Diplomatic controversy
The intervention of one of the supporters of the separatist thesis during the meeting of the fourth committee of the United Nations, a wave of controversy inside the hall, after exceeding the content of the session devoted to discussing the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, and directly attacked the symbols of the Moroccan state, in an explicit violation of diplomatic norms and controls of international meetings.
In Hazem’s response, Magda Macho, Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Nations, took the word in the framework of a system of order, to denounce what she described as “unacceptable transcendence of red lines”, stressing that “the Kingdom of Morocco will not accept any length of its constitutional institutions or its sovereign symbols”, pointing out that “the relevant intervention does not bear any legal or diplomatic capacity that authorizes it to attack a state system with sovereign within an institution UN. ”
In this regard, Algeria rapidly interacted with the Moroccan intervention, by requesting the application of Article 71 of the committee’s internal system, considering that the discussion began to deviate towards a series of regime points that may disrupt the course of the session; While South Africa, which later addressed the word, called for “goodwill”, stressing the need to give way to all opinions, from various parties without a boycott.
In line with the reservation of the Kingdom, the committee’s chairman stressed the necessity of respecting the internal system, and committing to the subject of the session without prejudice to the sovereignty of countries or deviating from the discussion devoted to the desert conflict, stressing that “the balance of the international debate requires responsibility and mutual respect.”
It is noteworthy that the discussions of the session, which followed Hespress with its full phases, are moving in the direction of consolidating different positions within the committee, where the Moroccan delegation is betting on providing documented field data on developmental and democratic progress in the southern provinces, in exchange for attempts by the opponents of the territorial integrity to transfer the discussion towards traditional theses that no longer receive the same resonance within the international circles.
