The “Asian tiger mosquito” which caused Europe to worry about a new epidemic and caused febrile diseases began to spread rapidly.
Publika.az reports that Mine Işık Arigun, a Turkish expert on infectious diseases, said that due to the increase in the number of tourists, there is a possibility of these diseases spreading to Turkey.
He said that Turkey receives a large number of tourists, especially from the European region: “These mosquitoes cause the transmission of viral infections such as dengue fever, Zika virus and malaria. The Zika virus caused a serious epidemic in the United States many years ago. Pregnant women lost their children in the womb.”
Arigun warns that these diseases start with fever, weakness, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea: “This risk has already reached Cyprus. It is only a matter of time before it reaches us. The fact that people are too close to use air conditioning in closed environments increases the risk.”
The expert also pointed out that it is very important for people coming from Europe and the Mediterranean to measure their temperature at least at the airports and undergo general examinations.
