The curtain fell on the 19th edition of the Timitar Festival, which was held under the slogan “Amazigh Artists Welcome World Music,” on Saturday evening. The closing evening featured artists from various musical genres who delighted the audience, who exceeded expectations.
During the third night of the event, rappers Distant and Dada enthralled the audience as they are considered to be the creators and innovators of rap. Dada, from Agadir, blended the Amazigh dialect with English in a smooth way, and Distant, as a contemporary international artist, took huge crowds of fans around the world with his music.
As for the famous Egyptian singer “Abu”, the singer of the famous song “Three Beats”, he stole the spotlight during the closing evening. After performing several songs from his artistic repertoire, he concluded his appearance on the stage of the Hope Square with the Moroccan song “The Voice of Hassan Calls” accompanied by visual effects about Morocco.
The platform of the Bejouan Square and the open-air theater also hosted two evenings that combined different styles of singing and music, as the festival continued to be faithful to its “theme” through a significant presence of Amazigh artists such as Raisa Fatima Tashtoukt and Ahwash Imintanout, as well as Rabab Fusion, where Mohsen Foulane succeeded in adapting the electronic Rabab instrument, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere on this platform.
As usual, the famous “Oudaden” group in the artistic community was able to elicit an unparalleled response from the audience that packed the Amal Square, thanks to the performance of Abdullah Al-Fawi, the owner of the distinctive throat, of several Amazigh songs that were sung with him by the audience who love this style and the person of the group’s maestro.
During the closing night, Timitar’s stages hosted international electronic music, such as DJ Deep Soul, DJ Derenk and others, who are prominent figures in the Moroccan and international electronic music scene, accompanied by animated visual performances of the art of vidje.
Mustafa Boudrika, First Deputy Mayor of Agadir and member of the organizing committee of the Timitar Festival, said in a statement to Hespress that “the 19th session was a great success, and witnessed a significant presence of Amazigh artists who hosted artists from Morocco and the world. The session also witnessed a public presence of between 250 and 300 thousand spectators.”
Boudrika added, “This year’s festival came in a new guise in a new city thanks to the urban development program launched by His Majesty the King. The Moroccan and international media delegations that covered the festival’s activities also witnessed the progress made in Agadir.”

It is worth noting that “Timitar”, Signs and Cultures, is a festival that has become a leading musical event organized under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, and seeks to promote local music and raise the Amazigh culture to the international level.
It is also worth noting that the 19th edition of the Timitar Festival, like previous editions, received extensive security coverage, as the Agadir Security Department, in coordination with various other security agencies and authorities, adopted a strict security plan that relied on a security presence both on the sides of the platforms and among the audience, and on judicial and administrative barriers at various entrances to the city, with patrols in various neighborhoods and streets.
