Havana Cuba. – The Cuban Government is brewing a perfect storm, with foreseeable demands from the people greater than those of July 11 and 12, 2021, due to shortages, price increases, a greater devaluation of the peso and paltry salaries and pensions, and hunger. The measures of the “Government projections to correct distortions and re-boost the economy during 2024” will soon begin to be applied.
The authorities cynically proclaim that the measures will be applied when conditions exist and the opinions of the people will be taken into account. However, in the recent session of the Council of Ministers, Manuel Marrero Cruz threatened with the “application of the law”, evidently by the repressive forces and the judicial framework established by the National Assembly of People’s Power.
On the aforementioned occasion, the premier emphasized “the need to offer timely information regarding each new step, so that the population understands and can respond to their logical concerns, especially those associated with measures related to price increases and rates.”
Cubans have always made fun of their misfortunes, but now the managers are putting too much pressure on them. “They will have to appoint ministers of insufficiency and poverty, because there is a Minister of Agriculture and there are no products, there is a Minister of the Food Industry and there is no food, there is a Minister of Transport and there is no transport, there is a Minister of Industry and there are no goods. . “This is worse than the Special Period, the street is in flames,” are some of the public expressions of “ordinary” Cubans, with no connection with the persecuted independent civil society.
Amid the blackouts, usually in two total sessions of 16 hours a day, the desperation of parents over the inability to feed their children and the frustrations of the elderly who fought for 60 years to provide a prosperous future, are leading the Cubans to the limit.
The Government was molding the brains of Cubans to adapt to the minimization and hopes of the prodigal orchard of socialism, while a part of the population “survived” due to the kindness of “FAITH” (Family Abroad). They have contributed the remittances, which were not used in the modernization of the obsolete infrastructures worn out over the years. Instead, GAESA has used the country’s scarce resources to build pharaonic hotels, without tourists.
Subsidies, workers’ soup kitchens, “jabitas” with stimulus products and the sale of chicken, eggs and pork to workers and others have been eliminated. But the Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior provide them to their members at very low prices. Senior managers and their families are very well supplied and have power plants in their homes. Currently, children as young as seven depend on international milk donations; There is no raw material for the production of medicines and most industries are paralyzed.
Towards the outside, the Government intensifies triumphalism and the supposed support of the “warrior people”, hides its economic and productive failures, and blames the “blockade” for all its evils.
