MEXICO CITY (apro).- The Minister of the Supreme Court, Juan Luis González Alcántara Carrancá, recognized that the Judicial Branch of the Federation (PJF) is “perfectible” and insisted on the desire of its members to participate in a dialogue with the Legislative Branch, facing the discussion of the reform initiative presented by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
During the inauguration of the Tenth Session of the National Meeting for a Security and Justice Agenda, in Puebla, organized by the PJF, the minister emphasized that the structural improvements required by the institution must be based on objective information.
“It is common knowledge that the Federal Executive Branch is promoting a reform of the Judicial Branch of the Federation. We recognize that the federal justice system can be perfected, we know and recognize it, and at this point, self-criticism is essential to improve.
“The dialogue that we are willing to engage in to formulate structural improvements could not be any other dialogue than that based on evidence and the fruit of a diagnosis based on objective and real information, where it is heard, where ideas are exchanged. , with the operators and actors involved,” he said.
He pointed out that it is no coincidence that this Thursday’s meeting was held in the city of Puebla, which he referred to as “inspiring testimony of how our Mexico has defended its freedom and independence on various occasions.”
For this reason, he called on those present to defend the institutions of Mexico beyond ideologies.
“Our historical struggles as a single nation bring us together and unite us in our differences, our homeland, and all its institutions that we have built with so much care, is what we have in common, and above all, for this reason, its defense calls us to “Everyone, beyond colors, ideologies, and we unite around our Constitution,” he added.
Accompaniment of the IACHR
Prior to the minister’s participation, the commissioner and rapporteur for Mexico of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), Andrea Pochak, offered the organization’s support in the reforms that the country requires in matters of security and justice.
“(Justice) has to be held accountable, there are many problems linked to impunity, many victims of human rights violations are waiting years and years for justice to be done, in many cases in our countries justice arrives late or does not arrive at all” , he commented.
“These spaces to be able to discuss what reforms are needed to improve justice and to improve security are very welcome and have the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in this process. So I invite you to debate, make your voices heard and the Commission will be very expectant of the results of these meetings.”
