A rich couple in India are about to take up the monastic life themselves, donating nearly 200 crores of rupees to the poor and needy. The family hails from Gujarat and is a follower of Jainism. Having donated wealth, they now plan to embark on a journey to salvation.
Indian media outlet NDTV reported that Bhavesh Bhandari and his wife announced the donation of all their assets at a ceremony last February. At the end of this month, they will officially start the monastic life.

Bhavesh was involved in the business of construction industry for a long time in Himmatnagar of the state. He built a huge property from there.
They have a 19-year-old daughter and a 16-year-old son. Both of them took monastic life in 2022. Following the footsteps of their children, parents are also choosing the path of sacrifice.
The couple will take vow of sannyas on April 22. Henceforth they must sever all family ties and cannot have any comforts or luxuries near them. Then they would walk across the country barefoot and beg for a living.
A Bhandari couple can own only two white robes during monastic life. You can keep a bowl for alms. There will be a white broom called ‘Rajoharan’, which is usually used by Jain monks to clean a place before sitting.
