Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received the delegation led by First Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Leonid Anfimov, who was on a visit to our country to observe the extraordinary elections of the Milli Majlis.

It was reported that during the meeting, the cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the CIS, as well as the issues arising from the elections, were discussed.
Emphasizing that the first parliamentary elections held on September 1 after the restoration of sovereignty in Azerbaijan are an important historical and political event, the Minister informed about the measures taken for free, fair and transparent elections, including the steps taken regarding the participation of international observers in this process.
First Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Leonid Anfimov said that, as in the case of the Presidential elections, these parliamentary elections are of great importance for the people of Azerbaijan, that the elections organized in accordance with the Azerbaijani legislation and international obligations were organized in a free and transparent manner. The representative, who gave information about the activities of the CIS observation mission in connection with the elections, pointed out that the parliamentary elections are the 12th election observed by the organization in Azerbaijan. He emphasized that the CIS mission, consisting of 133 people, is the second largest in terms of numbers, and the numerous observers represented here witnessed the successful organization of elections throughout the country, as well as in the territories freed from occupation, and congratulated our country for that.
At the meeting, the parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
